Matter of Balance

A Matter of Balance: Managing Concerns about Falls is an award-winning evidence-based program designed to manage falls and increase activity levels in older adults. Participants learn to identify and recognize beliefs about falls, identify barriers to exercise and its importance to preventing falls, identify potential home and community fall hazards, strategies to reduce the risk of falling and learn about community resources. During this program and Physical Therapist will discuss relevant fall prevention information and answer participant specific questions during a 1-hour presentation.

Matter of Balance participants report improvement in viewing falls and fear of falling as controllable. In addition, participants learn to set realistic goals for increasing activity, learn to change their environment to reduce fall risk factors and to increase exercise to improve strength and balance.
