Press Release: VENUE CHANGE FOR 28TH ANNUAL MEALS ON WHEELS CHARITY GOLF OUTING

Planning for the Tri-County Office on Aging (TCOA) 28th Annual Meals On Wheels Charity Golf Outing has been underway for months, with the event originally scheduled to be held at Walnut Hills Golf Course on Tuesday, June 14. With the uncertainty surrounding the opening of Walnut Hills, the decision was made to change venues. TCOA is pleased to announce the event will now be held at Michigan State University’s Forest Akers West in Lansing.

TCOA has been following the situation at Walnut Hills closely over the last few weeks.  With the course still not open last week, we reached out to alternate sites for bids. We appreciate the prompt response of the venues that were contacted. TCOA chose Forest Akers in part due to our history in holding the outing there in the past. TCOA staff and volunteers are excited about moving forward and are confident the event will be a success.

Proceeds of the event are used to support in-home services such as the Meals on Wheels Program, which helps support independent living for older adults by providing hot, nutritious meals to older adults and individuals who are at nutritional risk. Last fiscal year from October 1, 2014 to September 30, 2015, TCOA served just under 481,000 home delivered meals. This represents a 25% increase in meals served in the last three years. Sponsorship opportunities are available by contacting Tammy Lemmer at 517-887-1382.
