Chronic Pain PATH
Home / Health & Wellness Workshops for Older Adults / Chronic Pain PATH
Chronic Pain PATH (Personal Action Toward Health) is Michigan’s name for the Stanford Chronic Pain Self-Management Program (CPSMP). Workshop participants learn how to manage chronic pain without increasing medications. Topics include pacing and planning, the mind-body connection, distraction techniques, communication, healthy eating, stress management, and much more! Participants set their own goals by developing weekly action plans.
The program was developed and rigorously tested by Stanford University. Research studies found that, on average, participants have more energy, less pain, less dependence on others, improved mental health, are more involved in everyday activities, and are more satisfied with their lives.
TCOA is a member of the Capital Area Health Alliance and partnered with them in the development of a brochure on Pain Management.
